Matthew 23:26-28

You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too. What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity. Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Whitewashed Tombs

Oh whitewashed tomb, I see through to you
To your decay you waste away
Your casket full of skeletal bones
Trapped and feeling like you’re all alone
whitewashed tombs I’m here

Oh whitewashed tombs, your under disguise
Washed clean on only the outside
Your so good at hiding your true self
You’ve come to believe it’s your real self
whitewashed tombs come clean

You try to fight these feelings but they’re marrow in your bones.
They’re screaming and they’re digging their way out.
You thought they were buried with you, that no one would see the true you
but they’re bleeding through. yeah you’re bleeding through

Open wide the floodgates, It’s too late
Your inner thoughts have come out
Your haunted by the ghosts of your past
My dear whitewashed tomb my love will last
It’ll never pass away

You try to fight these feelings but they’re marrow in your bones.
They’re screaming and they’re digging their way out.
You thought they were buried with you, that no one would see the true you,
But they’re bleeding through, yeah you’re bleeding through.

I’m reaching out my hand
Come out of your grave
Step into the light
Step into the day

Because you can’t fight these feelings, they’re marrow in your bones.
They’re screaming and they’re digging their way out.
You thought they were buried with you, that no one would see the true you
But they’re bleeding through. Yeah you’re bleeding through.

Oh whitewashed tomb, I see through to you.

Romans 5:1-11

Romans 5

1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. 3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

Mary Jo

A faith the world can’t understand
A peace that causes me to stand
An inheritance undeserved
Thanks the God I serve

I’ll rejoice even in the rain
Even when my body's stricken with the pain
I’ll sing praise when the lightning strikes
because I know my God has already won this fight

When this world turns it back on me
and troubles are all I see
Ill hold tight to what I believe
For my God has rescued me

I’ll rejoice even in the rain
Even when my body's stricken with the pain
I’ll sing praise when the lightning strikes
because I know my God has already won this fight

You see where I stand,
an empty vessel stranded on an island of sand.
dry and parched in this land,
won’t you fill me oh Great I AM.

So rain down, rain down on me
let your thunder shake away my impurities
may your lightning reveal my iniquities
rain down, rain down on me

I’ll rejoice even in the rain
Even when my body's stricken with pain
Ill sing praise when the lightning strikes
because my God has already won this fight

Who has power over death?
None but you, none but you my God
And who gives the gift of life?
None but you, none but you my God.
